Dial-Up Networking Instructions for Macintosh
Setting up the Modem Control Panel
1) Select Modem from the Control Panels in the Apple menu. The following
window appears:

2) In the 'Connect via' field choose Modem Port from the pop-up menu.
3) In the 'Modem' field choose your specific modem.
Setting up the TCP/IP control panel
1) Select TCP/IP from the Control Panels in the Apple menu. The following
window appears:

2) Choose PPP in the 'Connect via' field. If PPP is not listed in this
pop-up menu, the software has not been properly installed. Try reinstalling
OT/PPP.
3) Choose Using PPP server in the 'Configure' field. This causes OT/PPP
to request an IP address from the server when it connects. In choosing Using
PPP server, the dialogue box that appears informs you that the IP address,
the subnet mask and the router address are supplied by the server, as shown
in the window above.
4) In the 'Name server address' field type in the two name servers (on
consecutive lines), which are 66.153.40.3 and 66.153.40.5.
5) In the 'Search domains' field type a1com.net - additional domains can
be added if you wish, and you have them.
6) On closing this control panel you will be prompted to save these settings;
do so. You are now set up to connect to a specific PPP server.
Setting up the PPP/Remote Access Control Panel
1) Select PPP or Remote Access from the Control Panels in the Apple menu.
The following window appears:

2) Check the 'Registered User' button.
3) In the 'Name' field type in your A1 Dial-up username.
4) In the 'Password' field type your A1 Dial-up password. You can also
check the 'save password' box to save this if you are the only person who
will be logging on from this Macintosh in the future.
5) In the 'Number' field type in the A1
Dial-up telephone number.
6) Now click on the Options... button at the bottom of the window. A dialogue
box containing three tabs (as shown below) appears, which allows you to
set three sets of options: redialing, connections and protocol. Click each
tab to make each one active and to change the options available.

7) Done!
