Flying R/C model sailplanes can be a relaxing Sunday afternoon
pastime, or a serious competitive effort locally, nationally
or internationally.
The Western New York Sailplane and Electric Flyers is a Western New York
organization that is nationally chartered with the
Academy of Model Aeronautics
(AMA Charter # 1883) and is devoted to furthering the sport of Radio
Controlled Soaring and Electric Powered Flying. Some of our goals are
to see how long we can fly (duration), how far we can fly (distance)
and how fast we can fly (speed). All without an engine! WNYSEF
sponsors several contest and "fun flys" each year for all types
of sailplanes and pilots.
As you progress, you can build and fly any sailplane,
ranging from a relaxing "floater" to a hi-technology,
multifunction glider to an exact scale replica of an actual man-carrying
sailplane. The sky's the limit!
Call one of our club officers (see Contacts),
stop out and see us at our flying fields (see Directions),
or stop at Field's Hobby Center in Cheektowaga and they'll be happy to help you. You may even see
one of us there!
Next time you're looking for some Serious Fun, you'll know where to go!
